Home Credit Bank History of origin and development

Home Credit started its activities in 1990. At that time it was called Technopolis Investment Bank. 12 years later, the company was acquired by the Home Credit financial group. And in the summer of 2002, the first lending operation under the Home Credit brand was carried out. In the same year, a representative office of the company was opened in Nizhny Novgorod, and retail outlets began to appear.

 

Geographic expansion

The enterprise began to develop rapidly. In 2003, the company established partnerships with all retail chains that existed at that time: Technosila, Eldorado, M-Video, Mir. The era of geographic expansion has come. The bank introduces new lending services and actively advertises them, attracting more and more new customers.

The year 2004 was marked by a very important event for the bank: the company presented its credit cards to consumers. The companys income began to grow. Home Credit outlets now operate throughout the country (except for the Far Eastern regions). Since 2005, the company has put into operation credit and cash offices, and the banks customers can receive cash loans.

 

New directions of "Home Credit"

The companys management pays special attention to improving the security system: the latest developments in the field of anti-fraud technologies have been introduced. Thanks to a well-functioning risk management system, the likelihood of adverse results and possible losses was minimized.

The bank offered its clients new services:

mortgage lending;
car loans;
internet banking and more.
Profits grew, and the company took the lead in lending. Home Credit is changing its model: the monoline bank becomes a retail universal bank, attracting deposits from citizens and issuing payment cards with which customers can make purchases in various retail chains.

 

Hard times

The streamlined strategy allowed the bank to survive the 2008 crisis. Home Credit has stopped providing mortgage and car loans, focusing on cash loans.

Now the bank is also going through difficult times (like all financial structures). However, the companys employees are making every effort to keep the bar high: asset quality is improving, cross-selling technology is improving, and the quality of customer service is improving. Home Credit is still the leader in the POS lending market.

 

Home Credit Bank activities

The main focus of Home Credit Bank is the provision of retail services. At the time of 2012, 6,350 company offices and about 70,000 retail outlets were registered in the Russian Federation.

The banks profit during this period amounted to 19 billion rubles (compared to 2011, the income increased by 80%). The growth of the loan portfolio was also significant: its volume increased by 98% and amounted to about 224 billion rubles. The growth of the loan portfolio was provided by cash loans, which increased by 174%.

In 2013, Home Credit won 26.5% of the market, ranking first in lending.

The client has the right to withdraw from the loan within 48 hours. In this case, interest is taken only for the actual period of use of funds.

Credit cards

The bank offers its customers only two types of credit cards. However, despite the "small assortment", Home Credit credit cards are very popular.

"Quick shopping". It takes only half an hour to process this credit card. The client needs to provide two documents. But the rates on this card are quite high (over 40% per annum).
CASHBACK. By providing a complete package of documents, the client will receive the minimum loan rate. In addition, when paying for goods or services with this card, part of the funds that were spent on the purchase will be transferred to the account of the credit card holder.

Making a loan application

Online application is the best way. It has a number of advantages.

Home Credit Bank and Rospotrebnadzor

Rospotrebnadzor has more than once made claims against Home Credit Bank. One of the banks principles is the legality of all financial transactions. Therefore, if the inspection bodies found any shortcomings, the companys management took measures to eliminate the errors.

For the first time, Rospotrebnadzor filed a lawsuit in court in 2006. The reason was the borrowers complaint that the bank takes a commission when opening loan accounts under consumer loan agreements. By a court decision, the claims of Rospotrebnadzor were satisfied. Since then, Home Credit does not take any commission when opening and maintaining loan accounts.

The next lawsuit was related to the fact that the bank included in the loan agreements conditions for the resolution of litigation in the place where the bank is located (in Moscow): the bank changed the terms of the contractual jurisdiction.

One of the State Duma deputies appealed to the Federal Security Service with a request to control the activities of Home Credit Bank. The official suspected the company of fraud. He suggested that the banks employees are carrying out dubious operations, the victims of which could become unprotected segments of the population. The General Prosecutors Office carried out an investigation, to which the Antimonopoly Service also joined. The audit showed that the bank was conducting legal activities.
